Reunion Information

Perryton Class of 1962
55th Class Reunion in Georgetown, Texas

Greetings Class of 62!  Penny has designated the 55th class reunion as one to take an adventure.  At our ages, we all need an adventure, right?  Well, this year, the reunion will be in Georgetown, Texas, because we have so many of our Class of 1962 members living here.  Besides, it is a fun place to come in the spring.  We have decided to have it in April when the wildflowers will be in extravagant bloom, and the weather is not yet hot (we hope.)  We need you to sign up and send in your deposit for you and your spouse, and we will do the leg work here.  We have not filled the times with every hour busy so that you can use the time here to enjoy the area, too.  Here are the plans as we have them so far:

Thursday, April 6:  Arrival in Georgetown, Texas and check in to Hotel/B&B (some info included; more on blog in future.   See below.)

5:00-8:00  Open house at Jo and Gary Bryan’s with snacks and lots of room to visit and enjoy each other’s company.  BYOB if you want cokes or wine or beer.  We will have water and ice.  102  Independence Creek Lane, Georgetown, Texas.   Park on street in front of our house or on down our street, but not on the main thoroughfare (Cool Springs)

Friday, April 7:  9:00-11:00  Coffee and Donuts at Jo and Gary Bryan’s
102 Independence Creek Lane, Georgetown, Texas.   Park on street in front of our house or on down our street, not on the main thoroughfare (Cool Springs.)

Suggestions for Friday afternoon:

Downtown Georgetown has a fun assortment of antique shops, boutiques, museum, coffee places, restaurants, etc. Round Rock Outlet Mall south of Georgetown in Round Rock on FM 1431 and I-35 (about 10 miles south) has lots of shops and restaurants in the area also.  Tour around Sun City?  Jo will be happy to take a group on a Sun City tour if anyone wants to go.  Or take a nap?

Friday evening, April 7:  6:00-???  Dinner at John and Linda Leicht’s. Barbecue & all the fixings, including cobbler for dessert.  We will provide water, ice and iced tea.  BYOB if you want cokes, wine or beer
122 Roberts Circle, Georgetown, Texas

Saturday, April 8:  In the morning:  If there is interest, we can meet at the Monument Cafe for breakfast at 9:00.  500 South Austin.  We will decide this Friday night and announce it if there is interest.  This is also a good time to go drive the area to see the wildflowers, go to Austin and do the Capitol, hit the outlet mall, shop in downtown Georgetown, etc.

Saturday, April 8 in the afternoon:  We will plan a wine tasting midafternoon, and there will be a separate charge for this. We will send out more detailed information later for this to those who ask for the info.

There is so much to do in the area, we want you to have time to enjoy it.  Some have said they want to go on the Fredericksburg; some want to shop; some want to go to Austin and do the Austin stuff; some want to see the wildflowers.  So we have limited the events to allow you to do all those things. Jo has started a blog that will list lots of things you can do in the area, and more info as it comes out from local events advertised, etc.  Plus I’ll share good wildflower drives, etc.  Feel free to enter your plans on the blog, and ask questions.  If you have problems getting to the blog, email me at jobryanartist@gmail.com and I’ll add you to the list to email the blog to you when I make a post.  The blog address is:  perrytonclass62.blogspot.com

But we do need to have you register for the week-end.  Please fill out the attached reservation form with your contact info, indicate whether you are interested in the wine tasting, and return to us with $25 per person.  Please make your check out to Jo Bryan.  The $25 will cover all food at the appetizer event, coffee and donut event, and barbecue, and cover our postage, etc.  We will need the reservation by March 25.  But if your plans change and you find you can come after that, give us a call.  We can add you, but need the big numbers for our caterer by then.

HOTEL AND B&B INFORMATION

I have never stayed in any of these Georgetown hotels, so cannot personally recommend.  If you find a better deal or have Marriott points or something, you can stay in Round Rock, which is about 10 miles further south of Georgetown.  Keep in mind that the further you get south (as in south of FM 1431) the traffic increases incrementally. I have had really good luck using Travel Advisor to evaluate hotels and other travel stuff in the past.  Yelp also is good, especially for restaurants.
